Afterbeat #19 - Kim Richmond

Sax player, arranger, composer, leader of small and large bands, educator, freelance musician - Kim Richmond has done all of this and more.  A veteran of the Stan Kenton band, Kim recently released his own large ensemble's tribute CD to the Kenton sound including standbys like "Artistry In Rhythm" as well as Richmond originals.  We talked about his intro to the clarinet and then the sax as well as how he learned to write, getting established in Los Angeles, his time teaching at USC and his own adventures as a public radio host.  Kim's always doing something new.
