Episode #1 - Roy McCurdy

The great drummer Roy McCurdy has played with just about everybody, and he's still out there with Nancy Wilson, playing on the score of The Rum Diaries, teaching at USC. We talk about life on the road with Art Farmer/Benny Golson, the Mangione Brothers, Cannonball Adderly, Sarah Vaughn, Betty Carter, and Count Rabbitt and the Bunnies (really).

I had the pleasure of conducting the strings (charts by Don Costa) on the Kenny Rankin Show at Cal Neva, Lake Tahoe in 1978 (I think). Nino Tempo was on the gig, also.
At the time, I had the orch account for Cal Neva and supplied the strings and some winds for this gig.
What a thrill. of course, Roy was a great guy and played great.
